Getting to Antwerp

Antwerp is located in the heart of Europe. Brussels, capital of Belgium and of Europe, is just a 45-minute drive away. Antwerp is also easily accessible from other European cities like Amsterdam, London, Paris and Cologne. And thanks to the direct connection with Brussels Airport (40 minutes by train), the whole world is close.

By Train

There are direct train connections between a number of European capitals and Antwerp’s city centre:

  • Brussels (Brussel-South and Brussels Airport)
  • Paris (Gare du Nord and Charles de Gaulle)
  • Amsterdam (Amsterdam Central and Schiphol)

From Germany there are direct connections with Deutsche Bahn. And Eurostar offers a connection to St. Pancras in London via Brussels.

Arriving in Antwerp’s Central Station is quite the experience. According to a number of lists, it’s one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. It’s located in the city centre, close to hotels and attractions.

By Air

Excellent connection to Brussels Airport

Are you travelling by plane to Belgium? Antwerp has an excellent connection with Brussels International Airport, where flights from more than 170 international destinations arrive. Get on the train in Brussels Airport and a mere 40 minutes later you’ll arrive in Antwerp’s Central Station. 

Connections to other airports

Antwerp also has an airport, Antwerp Airport is only 4 km away from the city centre. This small and comfortable airport has connections with various European and North African destinations. Antwerp is also easy to reach from airports in neighbouring countries: Eindhoven (90 km), Rotterdam (110 km), Brussels South Charleroi Airport (115 km), Amsterdam (160 km) and Düsseldorf (190 km).

By Road

Various bus operators, like Eurolines and Flixbus, offer international connections between a number of European cities and Antwerp. In the city centre you can make use of the hop-on hop-off facilities at Plantinkaai. Of course you can also drive your car to Antwerp. It’s important to know that Antwerp’s city centre is a low-emission zone. Register your car beforehand and find out whether you can enter the zone or not.
