Suraini Abd-Aziz
Professor Ts Dr Suraini Abd-Aziz graduated with PhD (Biochemical Engineering) from the University of Wales Swansea, United Kingdom. She developed her research interest in the field of Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology specializing in Bioproducts and Biobased Chemicals, which focused on the utilization of agro wastes into Bioproducts towards zero waste emission. Apart from being the project leader of her research grants, she also actively contributed to other projects in her capacity to be an expert in enzyme technology, fermentation technology, bioprocess engineering, industrial and environmental biotechnology. With an impressive Scopus h-Index of 41 (total citations over 5000), she has authored more than 230 internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals and books. She was honoured as one of Malaysia’s Top Research Scientists in 2018 and Research Exchange Award 2021 by The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering. She also has been recognized as the World’s Top 2% Scientist (2022- 2024) published by Stanford University & Elsevier BV. She is also the Malaysia representative for Korean-Asean Biomass Consortium. She now serves as the Deputy Secretary General, Academic Committee (Scientific Divisions), Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB), AFOB Vice President Malaysia Regional (AFOB), Co-Chair for the AFOB Bioenergy Biorefinery Division, and President of AFOB Malaysia Chapter.
