Ivo Frébort
Prof. Ivo Frébort is a distinguished biochemist specializing in plant biotechnology, genetic transformation, and molecular farming. He currently leads the Crop Engineering and Biotechnology group at the CATRIN institute, Palacký University Olomouc, Czechia. Prof. Frébort holds doctoral degrees from Masaryk University, Czechia and Tottori University, Japan, and was appointed Professor of Biochemistry at Charles University in Prague in 2005.
His prolific career spans over three decades, including key leadership roles such as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Director of the Centre of the Haná Region for Biotechnology and Agricultural Research. He has authored over 130 scientific articles, coordinated high-impact EU and national research projects, and holds several patents in plant biotechnology.
Internationally recognized, Prof. Frébort serves as Vice-President of the European Federation of Biotechnology. He has mentored numerous students and contributed significantly to advancing sustainable agriculture through innovative research in bioresources and crop enhancement.
